Moblizing Boomer Insiders to Reach Boomer Outsiders

“Gray hair is the crown of glory; it’s gained by living a godly life.”

During the 11th hour Boomers:

  • Reflect that more of their life is behind them than ahead.
  • Realize that they are no longer a key voice at work, church, or other places they once influenced. They feel marginalized.
  • Recognize that people see them as old and irrelevant, though their skills feel young and vital.
  • Have regrets about what could have been.

It’s not a very good place to be, is it?

What if you had a way to turn that around and mobilize them?

What would that look like?

For starters, rather than primarily ministering TO them, you would be ministering THROUGH them to other Boomers in your community.

They would be trained and skilled to reach out, evangelize, and disciple other Boomers.

They would be supported and challenged to work in the fields. An 11th-hour harvest is waiting for them. It’s time to find those who are missing and bring them home.

Our proven approach will help get you there.

We will work alongside you and your leadership to fully engage your Boomers through four development phases over 12 months.

From casting vision to the assimilation of new people, we will guide you as your Boomers grow deeper in the gospel and gain clarity from it. As a result, they will develop the confidence and skills needed to work the harvest as they find who’s missing and bring them home.

FAQs

B.O.O.M. (Boomer Out On Mission) is a partnership between your church and The GO Center with the GO Center providing a Boomer Mobilization Ministry Plan. This includes training, consulting, ongoing coaching, training materials, and resources. Typically, a Partnership Agreement covers one year of engagement with an option to renew for a second year.

Our process for mobilizing Boomers has four phases.  They are:

Creating Awareness: We activate the imagination and dream a little. Most Boomers have never considered a Boomer-focused ministry. They routinely hear and believe that their time is behind them. It’s time for the next generation, they think. They are marginalized because the focus is to bring new families to the church. Our Kick-Off event will reset their mindset. They will hear that God doesn’t believe in retirement and that he has an important mission for them in the 11th hour of their lives.

Developing Teams: Inspired by the Kick-Off Event, up to five teams will form to lead the mobilization. People will have the opportunity to serve based on their gifting, personality, and passions.  Vision will be developed and a strategy will be put in place to reach out, evangelize, and disciple Boomers outside of the church.

Training Boomers: Once the teams are in place and the vision and strategy have been formed, Boomers will gain clarity about the gospel. They will develop skills and acquire knowledge in the areas of outreach and personal evangelism as God hones their character.  They will learn how to engage with Boomers outside the church in ways that fit their personality and gifting. They will develop the skill to naturally share their story of God’s grace and his impact on their lives. They will go deeper with Christ, making discipleship a blessing, and something to be shared with others.

Mobilizing Boomers: Through the outreach events planned, to the classes and groups designed for outsiders, your Boomers will now use their new-found skills and knowledge to reach out, evangelize, and disciple so that they can minister to more people in better ways. Working alongside your staff, we will assist in apprenticing, mentoring, and coaching them.

The first year includes two onsite training events plus monthly Zoom consultations between the church’s Boomer Vision Team and the GO Center. Also, a point person for the Boomer Vision Team has unlimited access to the GO Center throughout the year via phone, email, and text. During the final quarter of the year, a progress evaluation is conducted and the option to continue the partnership for a second year is exercised by the congregation if so desired. The GO Center recommends a two-year partnership to make sure that B.O.O.M. is firmly rooted into the culture and ministry of the church.

It takes about 12 months to shift your ministry paradigm from ministering TO the congregation to ministering THROUGH the congregation. Not only will you start your journey to find who’s missing and bring them home, but you will also have a blueprint to shift the paradigm of your men’s, women’s, youth, children’s, and others from ministering to them to ministering through them.

The cost is based on the scale and length of the mobilization training plan.  The plans usually range between high four figures and low five figures.
