Creating a Common-Sense Ministry Plan

HERE IS THE FIRST REASON PLANS FAIL

They don’t align it with their vision.

This is deceptively difficult.

Here is why:

The wrong questions are asked.

Aligning your plan to God’s vision for your church requires that you ask pointed questions.

The three questions below will strip away ambiguity to keep you focused on the main thing: Fulfilling The Great Commission in the spirit of The Great Commandment.

RECOMMENDED QUESTIONS

1. What will get us to fulfill our vision?
2. How do we make contact with those we are trying to reach?
3. How will we develop them as disciples once we have made contact?

We recommend asking these questions because they are:

  • The objective is clear, measurable, and creates accountability.
  • They are not typically asked.
  • They connect to a larger whole.
  • They will help change the mindset of the status quo.
  • By answering the questions, what to do is clearly spelled out.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE QUESTIONS

The questions are strategic and will help you clarify what you plan to do.

– The first question drives the other two.

– The second question helps you answer how you will reach your community.

  • It gears events so that people can connect to one another.
  • These events will be relationally driven and compelling.
  • The next event will be planned so you can invite those attending to the next one.
  • These events will be:
    • Undergirded with focused prayer
    • Based on a strong biblical conviction to reach the lost
  • They will need:
    • A sacrificial commitment from the congregation to pull it off
    • A tender and compassionate heart for those in need of mercy

– The third question helps you figure out how to make disciples – including conversion. Here is the our recommend discipleship process:

THE RESULTS TO EXPECT

When you align your church to God’s Great Commission in the spirit of The Great Commandment your congregation will:

– Make disciples
– Love God and others
– Find those who are missing and bring them home
– Become laborers in the harvest
– Have the mind of Christ
– Have the heart of God
– Have the discernment of the Spirit

These three questions are a part of our church revitalization process, Reboot, designed to get your congregation moving in the right direction and focused on the main thing: going and making disciples.
