WE GO DEEP AND WIDE
Consider when Fitness Trainers Work with their Clients, they:
- Assess where they are
- Design a process to get them where they want to go
- Instruct them on how to get there
- Ensure proper technique
- Encourage them to keep working
- Support them to push through challenges
- Advise them on nutrition, lifestyle habits and recovery
- Track their progress
We Train Pastors in a Similar Way
Many of you will serve in smaller churches where you will be required to be a generalist.
So, you must be broadly skilled to:
- Assess the church’s past and present context
- Design a simple process to get them where they have discerned God wants them to go
- Train them how to reach out, evangelize, and disciple
- Preach in a way that makes sense to them and transforms their hearts
- Lead and develop leaders so the church can minister to more people in better ways
- Create a godly marriage between worship and mission that draws people to God
- Mobilize people for ministry
- Counsel and be a sounding board for people
- Administer the church
Using our time-tested processes, tools, and systems over 25 years, hundreds of pastors across 15 denominations in six countries have developed their skills.
How Our Approach Benefited a Planter Experiencing Rapid Growth
Pastor Jason Cornwell’s church is young and growing fast. It’s among the fastest growing PCA churches in America. Numerical growth is a blessing if leadership can keep up with it.
Jason needed to start discipling people at scale. He needed a process to help others grow closer and more sensitive to God without him being personally involved with everyone. After three months of training, he nailed down his process and built his discipleship pathway for the next three years.
Here is his story.
OUR APPROACH IS HOLISTIC
The best trainers do three things:
- They pull the best of out you.
- They provide you with a process and expertise to refine and develop your skills.
- They are a wise sounding board to help you overcome the very things that hold you back.
Our Model is Based on These Three Ideas

Our Approach is More than Coaching
Traditional coaching is facilitative. It largely emphasizes rhetorical questions of self-exploration and discovery. Its’ aim is for you to arrive at your own answer. This is good and necessary, but we have found this model as incomplete for most pastors.
Here’s why: many pastors need skill refinement and development. They also need someone to show them the way. Reading a book or going to a conference is not enough because they are information-based. Skill development is performanced-based. They need someone working shoulder-to-shoulder with them to help them develop those skills.
They also need simple processes and systems in place so their church can minister to more people in better ways.
This direct approach complements the traditional coaching model.
