The Church Planter Fellowship
THE MULTIPLYING SEASON
Multiplying Requires the Right Mindset.
GOAL:
Minister to more people in your community in better ways through starting a new ministry or a church.
KEY MINISTRY RESULTS:
1. Your congregation grows closer to God because they need to depend on him to make it happen.
2. You are mobilizing your people so they can minister more better in better ways.
3. Your community is being impacted and people are coming to Christ because of your outreach and evangelism efforts.
The guiding principle to start a new ministry (to multiply out) is to be courageous and act.
This is a theme throughout Scripture. Look to the following examples:
-
Joshua started a new chapter for Israel.
-
Nehemiah came home to reestablish Jerusalem.
-
Jesus kicked off his ministry.
-
Peter preached the gospel to the Jews.
-
Paul started churches.
Each of these endeavors required courage and action. At some point, courage and action will be required of you.
This is where the rubber meets to the road. Doubt, confusion, and fear reside here.
These emotions express the real stumbling blocks : core issues, limiting beliefs, and competing values. Having a multiplication mindset requires you and your team working through these blocks. Here are four questions to get you started.
-
What role does the gospel play in redeeming my core issues, limiting beliefs, and competing values? For clues look through Paul’s letters.
-
Where in the Bible do we find examples of people reconciling their:
-
-
Core issues
-
-
-
Overcoming their limiting beliefs
-
-
-
Competing values
-
-
-
What is the outcome in each case?
-
-
How would you advise and deeply support a leader who is stuck because of their limiting beliefs or core issues?
-
As you work one-on-one with your leaders, shape their character by giving them the right amount of support and challenge to work through their core issues and limiting beliefs.
-
Who are you currently working with to help shape these skills?
This mindset is a value that your church will deeply embody.
It is an activation of two themes.
-
The harvest is plentiful and the workers are few.
-
Healthy churches produce healthy ministries and churches.
Both of these themes are found in Scripture.
Action Item:
In your own words:
-
Describe what it would look like if your church fully mobilized into the harvest.
-
Describe the soil, nutrients, water, and sunlight needed to grow a healthy church so it will produce another healthy church.
Three Questions
-
Reflect. Is your church aligned with The Great Commission?
-
Look. How is your congregation looking beyond the four walls of the church?
-
Listen. What is God’s next unique assignment for your church?
Answer these questions as a part of your yearly review. It will keep you in a multiplication mindset as you keep the community the strategic priority.
