REV. DAVID ZOOK
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
David is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
He has served as a Lead Pastor for 14 years, leading the revitalization of two Phoenix-area churches. Under his leadership, up to 90% of one congregation grew significantly closer to God and more sensitive to His leading within three years.
In the other church, 40% of the congregation reported growing closer to God over a two-year period—during which the church also experienced 50% numerical growth.
He discerned vision, developed plans, created teams, trained elders and new leaders, then mobilized the congregations to reach the community, share their faith, and disciple them. During this season David also co-led a successful church merger.
He played a pivotal role in networking churches and non-profits across Phoenix for city-wide initiatives. These collaborative efforts broke down ministry silos, resulting in over 60,000 working poor being served in just two years. A three-day festival drew 150,000 attendees, with hundreds coming to faith in Christ.
Additional outcomes included the relaunch of Pinnacle Forum, the creation of School Connect, the emergence of new church networks, and strengthened partnerships between state government, churches, and non-profits to fortify the social safety net. In one year alone, more Christians were trained as foster parents than the state had seen in the previous four years combined.
David has also led Bible studies for Christian affinity groups at Intel, American Express, and the Arizona State Capitol. Over more than 20 years in ministry, he has helped plant or lead the planting of four churches. Three of those congregations are thriving today.
He is the current chair for the church planting efforts for the Presbytery of the West in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. There are four plants his team is overseeing with two more on the drawing board.
WHAT I DO
I get churches moving in the right direction.
I partner with church leadership teams to assess where their church is on its lifecycle, discern God’s direction for the next season, develop a clear strategic plan, build the right teams, and mobilize the congregation to bring it to life. Along the way, I equip leaders to establish a healthy, biblical DNA that shapes the church’s culture for years to come. Churches that fully follow this process have moved forward successfully — 100% of the time. Learn more here.
I find them the right pastor.
I represent churches in their search for their next lead pastor. Working closely with the pastoral search committee, I help them clearly identify the leader God has prepared for their next chapter. Drawing from an extensive network of over 12,000 pastors, I locate strong candidates, invest roughly three hours thoroughly assessing each serious contender, and guide the process through to a successful call. Because the approach is meticulous and comprehensive, churches consistently find the “missing piece” they’ve been looking for. Every completed search I have led has resulted in an excellent, and an expected lasting fit. Learn more about the process here.
Prior to being called into vocational ministry, I served for five years as an executive recruiter in the life and health insurance market.
I deliver the advanced training that strengthens pastors and elders for the long haul.
We’ve identified over 70 distinct skills pastors need to master in order to lead healthy, growing congregations. I walk alongside pastors to refine and strengthen these skills, helping them grow into the leaders God has called them to be.
Seminary equips the mind, but effective pastoral leadership also requires practical skill development. I serve as a trusted guide in the pastor’s corner—someone who helps them translate knowledge into real-world effectiveness.
My approach is distinct from traditional coaching models. It focuses on drawing out the best in each pastor, guiding them in building healthy processes and systems, and generously sharing wisdom, insight, and hard-earned experience gained from years of pastoral leadership, church planting and revitalization. I also work with elders to help them establish a healthy DNA for their church. It covers decision-making, scriptural-alignment, spiritual habits, and implementing the leadership style Jesus embraced. Learn more here.
